In the book, The Long Walk, Slavomir Rawitz wrote about his escape from a Siberian gulag, traveling on foot to freedom in India. This trip follows his approximate route from Moscow to Lake Baikal, Siberia; to Mongolia; through Beijing and Xian, China; across the deserts of western China; through Tibet; across the Himalayas; to Nepal and India; ending up in Kolkata where Rawicz himself finally found freedom. There is no evidence that the trip actually occurred, but the trip lays down a fascinating path for us to follow, and we can look for clues as to whether the journey really took place.

We feel that this is the most exciting adventure trip available on the market. It is a real quest through some of the most interesting places from the most northern environs to the tropical lowlands of the Indian subcontinent. This trip can be done in its entirety, or in segments. For more detailed information and itineraries see EFS, Moscow to Beijing, EFS, Beijing to Kathmandu, and EFS, Kathmandu to Kolkata.
